OPOL, Misamis Oriental – Mayor Jayfrancis Domingo Bago of this town told this paper that he has a marching order to police authorities to operate against illegal miners and illegal quarry operators.
He said the police in Opol town have already arrested illegal miners ever since he ordered them to go against these people who eventually destroy nature.
Mayor Bago said “these people are not thinking if they do harm because eventually flooding and soil erosion will follow if they continue their illegal quarry and mining operations.”
“ang akong standing order gyud sa atong kapulisan nga pirme gyud sila mag-operate. Kalooy sa diyos hinayhinay gyud silang nawala,” the mayor claimed.
PROBLEM IN SITIO LEMONDA
Mayor Bago said he received information that illegal operators are again operating in Sitio Lemonda and they are reportedly excavating anywhere which is very dangerous.
“Mountain quarry na ila. Kanang magbangag-bangag. Taga diha sa Lemonda raman gud ni sila. Ug mahilom hilom na mobalik napud ni silag operate,” the mayor said.
Mayor Bago warned them anew that if they continue to do illegal operations, the full force of the law will run after them anytime soon.
