KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte Mayor Rommel Arnado is confident that the numerous awards that the municipality has garnered this year will catapult investments in the town.
During a testimonial December 15 at Seaside Spectrum Hotel, Arnado presented more than a dozen awards that his administration has received in 2024 alone foremost of which is the 2024 World Future Policy Award.
The World Future Council, a global organization on policy research and cooperation based in Switzerland has awarded the municipality of Kauswagan the 2024 World Future Pollcy Award which is focused on peace and future generations.
Kauswagan’s From Arms to Farms programme is among the winning policies – reintegrating former combatants from the MILF and MNLF through sustainable agriculture, dramatically reducing poverty and fostering peace within communities.
Other awards include Top 1 highest real property tax collection for FY 2023, 2024 Pearl Awards best event hosting, 2024 Gawad Kapayapaan Award, 2024 National Literacy Awards first placer, Top 1 overall most competitive local government unit, Top 1 economic dynamism LGU, best performing Sangguniang Kabataan 2024, fully compliant 2024 Gawad Kalasag, 100% Performance Distinction Award from PESO, Top 1 Government Efficiency LGU and more.
During a press conference preceding the event, Arnado announced that many multinational companies have expressed interest in putting investments in this coastal town that has an area of more than 60 square kilometers.
Among these are a Chinese hardware manufacturer, a Spanish solar farm, a coco products exporter, a processing plant for giant bamboo end products and more.
Kauswagan is part of the Cagayan de Oro industrial hub and Arnado said the town and its 13 barangays are ready for the influx of investors and the economic activity that follows.
