THE labor force participation rate in Region 10 was estimated at 64.8 percent in 2025, slightly lower than the 66.2 percent recorded in 2024.
In terms of magnitude, this corresponds to approximately 2.38 million Filipinos aged 15 years and over who were part of the labor force during the year.
The region’s unemployment rate improved slightly to 3.7 percent in 2025 from 3.8 percent in 2024.
This translates to around 87,000 unemployed individuals, lower than the 91,000 recorded in 2024.
Meanwhile, the employment rate in Northern Mindanao was estimated at 96.3 percent
in 2025, slightly higher than the 96.2 percent posted in the previous year.
However in terms of level, the number of employed persons slightly declined to approximately 2.29 million from 2.32 million in 2024.
Underemployment in the region increased to 17.1 percent in 2025 from 16.4 percent in 2024, affecting approximately 393 thousand employed individuals who expressed the desire to have additional hours of work in their present job or an additional job or a new job with longer working hours.
This indicates that while employment remained
high, a portion of workers continued to seek more adequate or productive employment
opportunities.
