LOCAL officials and academics alike are looking forward for Misamisnons to be world swimming and diving champions in the future with the inauguration of an Olympic size pool December 13 in Naawan town.
The Naawan Misamis Oriental swimming pool is part of second district Rep. Yevgeny Vincente Emano’s dream of a pragmatic sports complex.Its construction was being continued in 2022 by Gov. Peter Unabia who shares the same vision of producing world class athletes from the province.
With a budget of P140 million, the pool is 50 meters long with a ten-meter diving platform.
With the property being donated by MSU Naawan, the pool will be used both as a training and competition venue.
Next week, 500 swimmers from all over Mindanao will converge at Naawan swimming pool to compete in a tournament sanctioned by the Congress of Philippine Aquatics.
