Chavit brings universal basic income concept to Misocc

SENATORIAL candidate Luis “Chavit” Singson has advocated for a universal basic income dubbed as Chavit 500 bill if elected in 2025 elections that will give a lifelong assistance and lifeline during hard times for underprivileged people across the country.
Singson visited Misamis Occidental December 18, joining Governor Henry Oaminal, Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, board members, mayors, and other local officials at the Pamaskong Handog 2024 in Ozamiz and Tangub City.
He promoted his key platforms, including the Jeepney Modernization Initiative, aimed at reducing congestion and pollution with eco-friendly vehicles, and the VBank Initiative, a digital platform offering financing to small businesses and farmers.
Singson also advocated for the Chavit 500 universal basic income program to support low-income families and improve education and disaster resilience.
Singson’s proposal if elected to the Senate seeks to provide a ₱500 monthly stipend to Filipinos aged 18 and above who earn minimum wage or less and even those with no income at all.
“Para orig at di kopyahin, ang magiging pangalan ay Chavit 500 at isusulong ko yan na batas (So that it is original and cannot be copied, I will name it as Chavit 500 and I will ensure that this will become a law),” he added.
“Malaking tulong na po yan sa amin (That is a big help for us),” a constituent of the province said.
