JOLO, Sulu – A top-ranking official of the Ministry of Public Works in Bangsamoro Autonomous Muslims in Mindanao (MPW-BARMM) reported yesterday the projects and programs currently undertaken by his office.
Engr Ajan S. Ajijul, District Engineer, Sulu 1st Engineering District said they already requested MPW BARMM for the establishment of an airport.
“Ang atin pong opisina ay nagre-request na for the establishment of an airport since it has long been a long overdue project in the province,” Engr Ajijul said.
ROAD PROBLEMS
He said aside from the airport, his office has also requested for the establishment of road projects connecting towns and other areas to improve the transfer of fruits, vegetables and other farm produce.
Ajijul lamented that there are still areas in the province not yet reached by the government’s road networks program.
“We need more road networks as many farmers are complaining about the difficulty of transferring their farm products and other goods to the marketplace.
In fact, the engineer said, growers of Mangosteen are not fully harvesting their products because of the difficulty of transferring them to the right buyers in the province.
“Problema talaga. Kaya nga sinabi ng isang Mangosteen farmers that they are forced to stop harvesting because they cannot bring them to downtown due to lack of road networks, connecting their barangay to other places in the province.
STREET LIGHTS
Aside from the road network problem, Ajijul also said they have requested the MPW-BARMM for more solar-powered street lights so that those with roads already connected, will be able to have the places lighted.
“We have requested for more solar lights to keep the road safe for all people,” the district engineer concluded. Â Â
