Misor is top eighth Philippine province in terms of per capita GDP

MISAMIS Oriental registered eighth out of 82 provinces with the highest per capita gross domestic product (GDP) in the country.

This was announced by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in a press statement released earlier this month.

GDP is a monetary measure of the market value of all the final goods and services produced and rendered in a specific time period, in this case 2023.

Per capita GDP is derived by dividing it over the population of a specific area, in this case Misamis Oriental. This gives the average economic output per person.

With a population of almost a million, Misamis Oriental garnered 170,037 GDP per capita at constant 2018 prices. This is higher than the national level at 186,476.

The top three provinces with the highest GDP when computed per capita are Bataan, Laguna and Batanes.

Rounding out the top seven are Pampanga, Misamis Occidental, Batangas and Cavite.

Provincial administrator John Ladaga welcomed this latest development, saying “it embodies our shared vision of a province with reduced poverty, made possible by Governor Peter Unabia’s unwavering dedication to achieve our goal of a single digit poverty incidence by 2028.”
