Misamis Oriental Gov. Juliette Uy outlines priorities during inaugural speech

MISAMIS Oriental Gov. Juliette Uy said she will prioritize infusing medicines, medical paraphernalia and equipment in the province’s seven operated hospitals.
In her inaugural speech in her first full day in office July 1, Uy said she was dismayed by reports that not even cotton and needles are present at the hospitals.
During the event, Uy symbolically opened the doors of the provincial capitol for the first time during her incumbency.
However, the jubilatory mood was dampened with the absence reelected Vice Gov. Jeremy Jonahmar Pelaez and 12 of the 13 board members.
Uy told the board members in her speech to stop politicizing “tungod kay gipili mo sa katawhan.”
The first female governor of the province is also planning to legalize mining in Opol and Manticao towns.
She said that in the current setup, only a few people would benefit from the illegal operation.
Uy said that once mining is legalized, local government from the province to the barangay will have a cut from it that could be used in enhancing public services more.
In the arena of tourism, Uy bared plans to strengthen tourist arrivals from South Korea and offer tour packages all over the province.
As the province navigates the next three years under the Uy administration, the constituents in the two cities and 24 towns will expect better services to come.
