IN observance of World Diabetes Month, six clubs based in Cagayan de Oro City under Lions International District 301-E held a free diabetes screening to more than 2,000 beneficiaries November 16 in barangay Macabalan covered court.
The project is headed by Lions Clubs International District 301-E global services chairman Atty. Mart Maandig and the participating clubs are the following: CDO Lapasan Lions Club, CDO Host Lions Club, CDO Golden Friendship Lions Club, CDO Executive Lions Club, Macajalar Bay Lions Club and CDO Metro Lions Club.
Each November is designated National Diabetes Month.
It’s a time to bring attention to diabetes and its impact on millions of Filipinos.
Maandig said that Lions Clubs International are dedicated to fighting diabetes by raising awareness, improving access to care and improving quality of life for those diagnosed.
Free medicines were also handed out to those who yielded high glucose levels during the screening.
