THE Liga ng mga Barangay ordered Cagayan de Oro City Councilor Marlo Tabac to file his comment or answer on the decision of the association’s Region 10 chapter against him.
It can be recalled that on August 8 this year, the regional Liga ng mga Barangay board led by Iligan City Councilor Cesarve Siacor had ousted Tabac as the league’s vice president in Cagayan de Oro City which already termed out last June 30 while the complaint against him was still pending.
The administrative complaint filed by former Gusa barangay employees was for violating two provisions of the by-laws of the organization – grave misconduct of public office and misappropriation or misuse of public funds.
The regional board had insisted that Tabac’s role as Gusa barangay chairman is intertwined with his being an official of the Liga ng mga Barangay here.
That decision is automatically subject for review by the national board.
Because the regional board had not yet made its decision before June 30, Tabac automatically assumed the position of councilor since his predecessor Yam Lam Lim had already termed out.
Under Philippine law, Liga ng mga Barangay chapters assume a councilor seat in their respective local government unit.
In an order dated September 2, the Liga ng mga Barangay led by Echague, Isabela Councilor Maria Katrina Jessica Dy (national president) directed Tabac to file his comment or answer on the decision rendered against him within 15 days from receipt thereof.
The national board also noted that no motion to dismiss will be entertained.
