Iligan City Mayor Frederick W. Siao was the honored guest and commencement speaker at the 48th Commencement Exercises of Mindanao State University – Lanao del Norte Agriculture College (MSU-LNAC) held on July 3, 2024. The event, themed “MSU: Beacon of Peace Nurturing Minds in the Age of Industry 5.0,” celebrated the achievements of 147 graduates who received their degrees amidst the presence of university officials, faculty, and staff.
Mayor Siao commended MSU-LNAC for its role in educating students from Iligan City, particularly those from the defunct Colegio de Iligan (CDI), many of whom were among the graduating class. He emphasized the strong educational partnership between the city government and MSU-LNAC, highlighting the institution’s commitment to providing quality education.
Dr. Alma E. Berowa, representing MSU System President Atty. Basari D. Mapupuno, presided over the conferral of degrees to graduates from various disciplines. The ceremony was attended by officials including Dr. Sorayda Ismael, MSU System Vice President for Administration and Finance, Atty. Shidik T. Abantas, University Secretary and BOR member, Dr. Renato Boniao, Alumni Regent, Hon. Jemsy and Hon. Wezam M. Hassan, Faculty and Student Regents respectively, Dr. Parcon, VC for Academic Affairs of MSU Maguindanao, and Campus Secretary.
The Class of 2024 notably produced 8 Cum Laudes, predominantly from the BSEd Mathematics Department. Dr. Indihra B. Dimaporo-Tawantawan, Superintendent of MSU-LNAC, underscored the significance of the day as a culmination of years of dedication and learning for the graduates.
In her message to the graduates, Dr. Dimaporo-Tawantawan encouraged them to carry forward the values and knowledge instilled at MSU-LNAC, preparing them to embrace the challenges and opportunities presented by Industry 5.0. The ceremony concluded with a message of congratulations and best wishes for the future from MSU-LNAC, echoing pride in their alma mater and their journey ahead.
