Health protocols in Camiguin updated under Alert Level 1

CAMIGUIN (PIA)—Residents of Camiguin island can expect relaxed COVID-19 restrictions as the island is placed under Alert Level 1 status.

Admission into indoor and outdoor venues, as well as participation in mass gatherings and activities will require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, according to Executive Order No. 11 issued by Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo, February 28. 

Venues include but are not limited to restaurants, personal care establishments such as barbershops and hair salons, venues for contact and non-contact sports, recreational venues, and funfairs. Hotels, venues for social gatherings, tourist spots, and venues for election-related events are also open to fully vaccinated individuals. 

Based on the said EO, children aged 5 to 17 years old may be brought to outdoor and indoor establishments provided that they have received their first COVID-19 vaccine dose. Unvaccinated children below the age of 5 are to be strictly accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult. 

Transportation restrictions are also eased, as public land transportation in the island is now allowed to operate at full seating capacity. 

In terms of work arrangements, private establishments may continue operating under flexible work conditions depending on the function and individual risk of its employees. Government agencies, and national and local government offices in Camiguin are required to adhere to a 100% on-site work arrangement. Offices and private establishments may operate at 100% capacity. 

Wearing of well-fitted masks at all instances will still be strictly observed at all times in indoor and outdoor venues, public transportation, and venues for social gatherings. Minimum public health standards such as hand sanitation, physical distancing, and the proper disposal of personal protective equipment (PPE) are also required. 

Camiguin is placed under Alert Level 1 status beginning March 1 until March 15, 2022. (GDA/PIA-10/Camiguin)
