OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–In the peace covenant signing, interfaith prayer and unity walk in Misamis Occidental, March 1, PBGen Benjamin Acorda Jr. through PCol Benidicto Pintor shared the activity would be meaningless if participants were not sincere.

Pintor explained the importance of peace in communities throughout the election period and doing the covenant signing among others is to ensure that the goal for a peaceful, orderly national and local election will be achieved.

“Election campaign has already started and it is important that peace in communities will be maintained and preserved,” he said.

Meanwhile, he stated that the sincerity of the participants is very important, otherwise, “This peace covenant will be meaningless.”

He also appealed to the politicians in the province to not use policemen for personal gain.

He also called the police force to not allow themselves to be used by politicians.

“Sa ating kapulisan, ‘wag tayong papagamit (To our policemen, do not be used),” he said.

“I realize that the reason for a failed state is their distrust in our democratic system and mistrust of the integrity of its security force. That is why we have to protect our democracy,” he shared.
