DAVAO City – Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Leo Tereso Magno on Monday commended President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s healthcare initiative, which aims to strengthen healthcare access in Mindanao’s underserved communities.
Magno’s statement followed the President’s turnover of 106 patient transport vehicles (PTVs) in Dipolog City on Aug. 1.
Magno said the initiative marks a major stride in the administration’s mission to enhance healthcare delivery, particularly in the Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao del Sur.
“The deployment of PTVs reinforces the administration’s commitment to equitable development across the region,” he added.
The President emphasized the critical role of these vehicles in reaching remote areas where medical services are often out of reach, Magno said.
Citing the President’s recent State of the Nation Address, the MinDA chief said healthcare remains a top priority, with the administration aiming to provide at least one PTV to all 1,452 local government units.
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, which funds the initiative, has already distributed 1,067 units since 2022, focusing on small municipalities with limited resources. (PNA)
