Gaane presents Rabies Awareness Month accomplishments

CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor Dr. Paolo Gaane – the committee on health chairman – said the city government through the city veterinary office is targeting 30,000 dogs to be injected with anti-rabies vaccination until May.

This is in accordance with Rabies Awareness Month that is observed every March.

This year is no different. The city veterinary office has vaccinated more than 6,000 dogs so far in two barangays.

There are eight more barangays to go for the next two months.

Corollary to that, the city veterinary office has been conducting rabies awareness campaigns to public elementary schools in the city.

According to Gaane, there were 13,000 students in 15 schools that have been recipients of the campaign.

The anti-rabies campaign is one of the priority health programs of the administration of Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy, aimed at ensuring the safety not only of the people but also of pet dogs and cats.
