Faraway war has repercussions in CDO: mayor declares four-day work week to conserve energy

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando UY has officially signed Executive Order No. 103-26 mandating a compressed four-day work week for all City Hall departments effective immediately.

Under the new directive, government operations will now run from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays.

All offices will be closed on Fridays except for essential offices and online services providing critical services, particularly in health, emergency response and public safety.

The move is a strategic response to the surging prices of fuel and electricity caused by the ongoing Middle East conflict.

By condensing the work week, the city aims to significantly lower energy consumption and operational costs.

The local government assures the public that the ten-hour daily window will maintain the efficiency and quality of public service. CIO
