AFTER visiting the evacuation centers in Iligan City, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian immediately proceeded to Cagayan de Oro City to meet with CDO Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy.
The purpose of the meeting was to assess the extent of the damage caused by Typhoon #BasyangPH in the city.
During their discussion, they tackled the interventions and other forms of assistance needed in the hardest-hit areas.
This included ensuring an adequate supply of food and non-food items, especially for families currently staying in evacuation centers.
The meeting forms part of strengthening coordination between the DSWD and the local government to enable faster delivery of aid to affected residents.
The Secretary assured that the agency is ready to support the needs of the local government while continuing to closely monitor the situation of each affected family.
Joining Secretary Gatchalian were DSWD Special Secretary Ramel Jamen, Regional Director Glofelia Uayan, and Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe.
Also present from the LGU were Mayor’s Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan, CDRRMD Chief Nick Jabagat, Secretary to the City Mayor Xsyclyn Faith Lumbatan, Spokesperson Janboy Actub, and Acting City Information Officer Jade Adeser.
