CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT)-10 and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Calamba’s Tech4Ed Center in Misamis Occidental received the Special Citation on Innovation under the Partner-Owned Category during the 2025 National Tech4ED Awards on Nov. 21 at Best Western Plus Metro Clark in Pampanga.
The award recognizes the LGU’s effort to improve its information and communication technology (ICT) program through community-centered digital programs that provide learners and job seekers with access to ICT tools and e-government services. The center’s programs aim to bridge the digital divide and strengthen digital inclusion across Calamba.
A key factor in the Tech4Ed Center’s achievement is the LGU’s annual allocation of at least P150,000 to sustain and enhance the center’s operations.
The budget supports service continuity, capacity-building activities, and alignment with the municipality’s broader digital transformation goals.
Calamba Mayor Luisito B. Villanueva Jr. thanked DICT for recognizing the LGU’s efforts in digital innovation. He said the award inspires the local government to expand digital opportunities for all residents.
“This award inspires us to continue pushing digital transformation in our LGU. We are committed to equipping every Calambahanon with the skills needed to thrive in today’s digital world. To show our full support, the LGU continues to allocate P150,000 or more annually to sustain and strengthen the operations of our Tech Forward Center,” Villanueva said.
The mayor also recognized the staff behind the Tech4Ed Center for their guidance, collaboration, leadership, and work in implementing digital programs that benefit the municipality.
DICT-10 congratulated LGU Calamba and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Tech4Ed center in the region in expanding community-based digital programs, ensuring wider access to digital transformation efforts.
