The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division opened its month-long Christmas Sportsfest 2024 at the 4ID Grounds, Camp Evangelista, Brgy. Patag, Cagayan de Oro on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Joined by Officers, Enlisted Personnel and Civilian Human Resource from organic, post and tenant units, said event aimed not only at promoting physical fitness but also building bonds and fostering a spirit of teamwork and discipline among troops.
Seven (7) color teams vied for the championship title for the fun games during the kick off ceremony. Said teams will also compete for the title in different sports category such as the Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Triathlon Relay and Squad Run which will run until November this year.
In his message, Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of 4ID emphasized that playing the sports is not just about winning but also showcasing the troops’ fighting spirit and camaraderie.
“Let us embrace the spirit of fun. These games make us remember that while we may serve with strength and discipline, we are also allowed moments of playing and laughter to recharge our spirits. Sports are not just about winning, it is about showcasing our fighting spirit, our camaraderie and our commitment to fair play. Whether you’re aiming for the championship or simply enjoying the games, let’s do this with pride, sportsmanship and the energy that defines every personnel of 4ID,” he added.
