THE deadline for business permit renewal has been extended from January 20 to March 31, 2026.
This came after the City Council favorably approved the recommendation of Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy, following a request for a deadline extension from business groups in Cagayan de Oro during the council session on Monday, January 19.
It was learned that a joint letter-request was submitted to Mayor Klarex by Mr. Almarco Brito, President of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber); Mr. Henry Dy, President of the Cagayan de Oro Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.; and Mr. Efren Uy, President of the Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for this purpose.
The three groups explained that extending the deadline for business permit renewal would be a great help and relief to business owners, as they are currently facing financial challenges due to the increase in real property tax in Cagayan de Oro this year, the rise in the minimum wage of employees, and the slowdown in income last year.
It is estimated that nearly 30,000 business owners in the city are expected to renew their business permits this year at the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) located at the City Tourism Hall. CIO/CITY COUNCIL FILE PHOTO
