ANOTHER round of stakeholders forum and lecture series was conducted by the City Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (CIACAT-VAWC) in relation to the observance of End Violence Against Women, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the City Tourism Hall of the city.
Barangay Violence Against Women Desk Workers, together with women’s organizations and the faith-based sector, took part in the forum. The lecture series covered topics such as Trauma-Informed Care, updates on R.A. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004, and the Barangay Violence Against Women (BVAW) Desk Workers Functionality Assessment.
During the stakeholders’ forum, BVAW Workers and other stakeholders were briefed by various representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 10, the City Social Welfare and Development Department, the Commission on Human Rights Region 10, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office – Women and Children Protection Desk, the City Prosecutor’s Office, the Public Attorney’s Office, the Barangay VAWC Desk, and the Northern Mindanao Medical Center – Women and Children Protection Desk on the steps to take when encountering VAW cases and how such cases should be handled.
In addition, expressions of appreciation were given by City Councilor Des Dahino, Chairperson of the Committee on Women and Family Relations; City Councilor Marlo Tabac, Liga ng mga Barangay President; and City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas, who represented Mayor Klarex Uy and also attended the event. CIO
