CAGAYAN de Oro City is set to undergo a major transformation, thanks to the visionary leadership of 1st District Congressman Lordan Suan. Spearheading efforts to make urban infrastructure more inclusive, Congressman Suan has conceptualized and championed the construction of two state-of-the-art overpasses along Masterson Avenue in Uptown CDO.
These overpasses—strategically placed near Xavier University High School and Corpus Christi School—will be the first in the city to feature elevators, ensuring accessibility for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and pregnant women.
This pioneering initiative underscores Congressman Suan’s dedication to making Cagayan de Oro a safer and more accessible city for all.
With each overpass estimated to cost ₱25 million, the total investment in this project reaches ₱50 million.
Mr. Bert Amplayo, Assistant District Director from Congressman Suan’s office, confirmed that the project is slated for implementation this year, 2025. He highlighted that this infrastructure is a direct result of the congressman’s commitment to modernizing CDO’s public spaces while prioritizing inclusivity.
The initiative has been met with overwhelming support from various sectors of society. Educational institutions, particularly Xavier University and Corpus Christi School, have expressed gratitude for the project, emphasizing that it will provide students, parents, and faculty members with a much safer way to cross the busy Masterson Avenue.
Business owners in Uptown CDO have also welcomed the development, recognizing that improved pedestrian access will enhance foot traffic and benefit commercial establishments. With Uptown CDO rapidly growing as a commercial and residential hub, better infrastructure is crucial to sustaining its development and ensuring pedestrian safety.
Meanwhile, residents from nearby subdivisions, including Xavier Estates, Gran Europa, and Pueblo de Oro, are thrilled about the project, citing its importance in improving road safety and mobility. Many have long called for better pedestrian access in the area, and with Congressman Suan’s initiative, they finally see a solution coming to life.
By spearheading this landmark project, Congressman Suan is not only setting a new benchmark for urban development in Uptown CDO but also proving that inclusive and modern infrastructure can positively impact education, business, and everyday life.
With the community’s full support, this initiative is set to transform the city’s landscape and further solidify Uptown CDO as a model for smart and inclusive urban development.
