Comelec withdraws disqualification petition versus KapKik

THE Law Department of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has filed a Motion to Withdrawthe Petition for Disqualification before the COMELEC Second Division against Raineir JoaquinVelez Uy, incumbent Punong Barangay of Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, and candidate for Representative of the 1st Legislative District of Cagayan de Oro in the 2025 elections.I

n its motion dated December 17, 2024, the COMELEC Law Department emphasized the need forprudence and due diligence in reassessing the evidence and circumstances surrounding the case.

It underscored that in the interest of justice and fairness, the Law Department found it appropriateto withdraw the petition for disqualification against Uy.

This information was relayed by Atty. Al An E. Geñoso of Carrasco and Geñoso Law Office, counsel for Kapitan Raineir Joaquin Velez Uy.

Kapitan Uy welcomed the motion to withdraw filed by COMELEC’s Law De-partment.

He further expressed gratitude to his supporters and reiterated hisfirm resolve to continue serving the people of Cagayan de Oro.

“The COMELEC Law Department’s decision to withdraw the petition high-lights the significance of fairness and due process in our democracy. Fromthe very start, we called for the facts and evidence to prevail. We will remain focused on delivering meaningful service and moving forward together forthe progress of Cagayan de Oro,” Uy said.
