The City Hall of Cagayan de Oro, through its Community Improvement Division (CID) and Cooperative Development Program, participated in the ceremonial opening of Cooperative Month at the Provincial Capitol grounds on October 5. City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas and City Councilor Gilda ‘Gigi’ Go joined key officials and members of the cooperative sector in the celebration.

Atty. Raagas, speaking on behalf of Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, praised the city’s cooperatives for being a “beacon of hope” in uplifting and empowering communities. Councilor Go, who chairs the 21st City Council’s committee on cooperatives, assured City Hall’s support for the cooperative sector.

The Cooperative Development Month is observed in October to honor the vital role that cooperatives play in empowering communities and promoting economic development.
