BGen Anayron Assumes Command of 4ID

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City — Brigadier General Michele B. Anayron Jr. officially assumed the leadership of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, Philippine Army, in a Change of Command Ceremony presided over by Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, the Commanding General of the Philippine Army January 28, 2025 held at the Division Clubhouse in Camp Evangelista, Patag, this city.

BGen Anayron, a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992, is a seasoned Army officer with over 30 years of exemplary service and leadership. T

hroughout his career, he has held various key positions, ultimately culminating in his appointment as the 54th Commander of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID).

He has taken command from Acting Commander Brigadier General Consolito P. Yecla, who temporarily held the position following the retirement of Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II (Ret.) last week.

Prior to his assumption, he led significant accomplishments both in operations and civil-military affairs as the Commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade of the 4ID based in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon since January 13, 2023.

He also served in various posts under 4ID such as the Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs (ADC-RRA), Chief of Staff, Commanding Officer of the 4th Civil-Military Operations Battalion and Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, G4.

During the early years of his military service, Brigadier General Anayron was assigned to various provinces in the Visayas under the 8th Infantry (Stormtroopers) Division from 1992 to 1999.

He successfully led both the 25th Infantry Battalion and the 67th Infantry Battalion of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division in the Davao region.

During his inaugural speech, BGen Anayron emphasized the Division’s commitment to strengthening and enhancing its acclaimed banner program, the Convergence Areas for Peace and Development (CAPDev), as well as a similar program in the Caraga region.

This initiative represents a comprehensive and collaborative approach to addressing the root causes of insurgency in the 4ID’s area of responsibility.

He also affirmed the Division’s dedication to ensuring the safe, orderly, and credible conduct of the 2025 Mid-Term Elections, along with its role in external security.

“While our focus is firmly on internal security and nation-building, we should not lose sight of our role in external security operations. The 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division will remain vigilant and ready to defend our territorial integrity and prepare to respond to emerging external threats. Our dual role demands the highest level of professionalism, which I am confident that the Division will continue to uphold,” the new 4ID Commander said.

Moreover, he enjoined all Diamond Troopers to heed the call of the Army Chief, Lt. Galido, which is encapsulated in the acronym A.R.M.Y.in the performance of duties.

“As we continue to perform our assigned tasks, let us always be reminded to anchor ourselves to the leadership thrust of our Commanding General, Philippine Army, let us remember the acronym A.R.M.Y. These thrusts will guide us to ensure that we remain effective, dedicated, and united in fulfilling our duties and most importantly in achieving success in our campaigns,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Galido expressed his appreciation to BGen. Yecla for his brief but impactful tenure as Acting Commander of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) and congratulated BGen. Anayron on his new role as the Commander of 4ID.In addition to providing guidance on the Division’s responsibilities regarding external security, Lt. Gen. Galido outlined key strategies for effectively achieving this goal.

He emphasized the importance of fostering economic growth and instructed BGen Anayron to be efficient, effective and maximize in utilizing limited resources.

He also stressed the need for organization and unity within the division, as well as the critical importance of strengthening the reserve forces throughout the country.

Lastly, he highlighted the importance of sustainability through increased food production.

“It is the external threat or the territorial defense that we need to template and work on collectively. The military cannot do it alone; we have to do it the way we are able to defeat insurgency here in Northern Mindanao and Caraga region,” the CGPA said.

Present at the ceremony were Lt. Gen. Luis Rex D. Bergante, Commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMiNCom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP); MGen. Rey Alemania, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (J4) of the AFP; MGen. Allan D. Hambala, Commander of the 10th Infantry Division (10ID); and PBGen. Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO 10.

Also in attendance were the Provincial Governors of Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental, former Commanders of the 4th Infantry Division (4ID), local government officials and representatives, key stakeholders, and senior officers from the 4ID, including Brigade and Battalion Commanders, enlisted personnel and Civilian Human Resources (CivHR).

Additionally, the family, mentors, classmates from Xavier University, and friends of BGen. Anayron were present at the event.
