THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 10 is all ready for the National Fire Olympics this March.
This was announced earlier today by BFP 10 director F/CSupt. Romel Tradio during the weekly press conference initiated by the Cagayan de Oro Press Club at SM CDO Downtown.
Held every year, the National Fire Olympics brings together firefighting champs from across the country both from the government (BFP and local units) and volunteers competing in various firefighting and rescue challenges. They have been eliminated earlier during their respective Regional Fire Olympics held the previous year.
For 2026, the National Fire Olympics will be held for four days from March 24 to 26 in Oroquieta City.
Although actual games will be held at the Misamis Occidental Provincial Athletic Complex, this will also be the chance for the provincial government led by Gov. Henry Oaminal to showcase the newly opened Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center, a P600-million coastal resort dubbed as the Maldives of Mindanao.
Two events will be held at the world class spot – the welcome dinner and the director’s night three days after.
Competitions include fire attack relay, bucket relay, ladder raise and climb, donning of protective gear race, emergency rescue simulation, basic life support challenge, obstacle course and fire truck driving skills.
There will also be complementary events such as the fire safety quiz bowl and the Miss National Fire Olympics.
The National Fire Olympics is timed with the annual observance of Fire Prevention Month.
As per Presidential Proclamation 115-A, March is observed as Fire Prevention Month in the Philippines – a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness and reducing fire-related incidents especially as summer is at its onset.
