Bernedo admits that some Oro leaders are inquiring if Equi-Parco water project can be tapped for CDO

PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority and Equi-Parco are taking a bold step toward a brighter future!

They just broke ground and laid the first capsule for the bulk water supply development project.

This game-changing initiative is set to combat water scarcity and supercharge economic growth, bringing lasting benefits to the entire community.

On the 50th anniversary of Phividec Industrial Authority, CEO and administrator Atty. Joseph Donato J. Bernedo emphasized the significance of the recent capsule laying ceremony for a bulk water supply project.

He highlighted how this project fulfills the mandate set forth in Presidential Decree 538, which requires Phividec to develop an industrial estate with essential infrastructure, including water distribution and utilities.

“It is very timely that we are celebrating this capsule laying on the celebration of PhividecIndustrial Authority’s 50th anniversary. This is a step into the future,” Bernedo said. “In our mandate, in PD 538, it is stated that thePhividec Industrial Authority shall develop an industrial estate with supporting facilities and infrastructure. It includes electricity, road networks, and more importantly, water distribution and water utilities. This will be the culmination of the fulfillment of that mandate on our charter itself.”

Bernedo explained that the bulk water project involves multiple phases.

The early phases will focus on serving the locators within the estate.

However, once completed and the dams are constructed, the project aims to extend water supply to nearby municipalities and potentially Cagayan de Oro City.

Currently, there are numerous requests from Cagayan de Oro leaders seeking assistance with their water issues.

Bernedo did not identify them though.

Initially, the project will provide water to about 30 to 40 percent of the locators in the Tagoloan area, with coverage expected to expand as the project progresses.

This milestone indeed marks a major step into the future for the Authority and the community it serves. PHILIPPINE INFORMATION AGENCY 10
