Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, together with Bureau of Plant Industry Director Glenn Panganiban, arrived at the Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT), Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, for the inspection of smuggled red onions in the region, June 24.
The red onions confiscated are reportedly from Xiamen City, China.
During the inspection at MCT, June 24, DA Secretary Laurel says the Anti Agricultural Smuggling Act will monitor all locally and internationally imported goods.
Through the Act, a letter of authority may be issued by the council to inspect all containers carrying imported products. PIA
