16 Misor mayors join League of Municipalities of the Philippines meeting

MISAMIS ORIENTAL – At least 16 out of 23 mayors of this province attended the meeting spearheaded by Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M. Unabia to discuss very important issues at the PAGLAUM Hall, Provincial Capitol Compound, on July 10, 2024.

The meeting tackled the Cost of Kuyamis Festival Street Dancing, Checklist for Hotels to pass the DOT Accreditation, Budget Increase of IKNB ( From Php 10,000.00 to Php 15,000.00) and Barangay Waste Segregation. Septage and Sewerage Master Plan, Program/intervention for Teenage Mothers, Investment Code of LGU, Provision of Nutritious Breakfast to Day Care Centers, Review Course Offerings of Community Colleges, Payout Issues, Creation of SDPI Committee for each Sangguniang Bayan, Budget Allocation for Barangay Tula and Barangay Imelda Water System, eBoss – Municipal Level, Government Center (Barangay Luna, Claveria), Operation Centers (Cluster), Salt Industry.

Governor Unabia said the discussions were very important because it touched on the pressing issues and concerns among the municipalities, budgetary requirements, and many other matters.

Unabia said “Assuring a comprehensive effort for the holistic development of the province, we joined the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Misamis Oriental Chapter Special Meeting to meet with the Municipal and City Mayor of the province discussing timely challenges and solutions that the province is facing nowadays which includes Proper Waste Segregation, Sewage and Septage Problems, Teenage Pregnancy, amongst others which are key factors in achieving our shared vision on the reduction of poverty incidence in Misamis Oriental.”

In an interview with Opol Mayor Jayfrancis Domingo Bago, he said among the pressing problems include Barangay Waste Segregation which is one of the problems even in cities.

“For example, this barangay wastes segregation. This is one of the problems in all municipalities and even cities,” the mayor said, adding a concrete plan of action is needed to address this issue.

Mayor Bago also said “so far the waste problem in his town is well managed but still they are seeing some problems every now and then when it comes to waste segregation and other issues.

Medina mayor Donato N. Chan Municipal Mayor, Medina also said that they are also having problems in waste management but they are doing their best to still achieve manageable solutions.  ###
