Traslacion routes secured, organizers assure

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy ordered the city police on Monday (Jan. 5) to secure all routes leading to and from this week’s Traslacion (Procession) of the Black Nazarene.

Mayor Klarex issued the directive to Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Director Col. Dexter Paje during Monday’s flag raising program hosted by the mayor’s office.

Thousands of devotees in the city and even nearby areas are expected to fill the streets to attend the morning procession that follows after the dawn Masses scheduled this Friday, Jan. 9.

A press briefing was scheduled by Traslacion organizers on Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 6) to provide details on the event which takes place mostly within the city’s downtown areas.

As in past observances, Mayor Klarex said he’s hopeful that this year’s procession would remain peaceful and orderly for everyone amid the expected large turnout of devotees for the event./Text by SC
