THE Safety Technical Institute & Driving Academy opened its new driver’s maneuvering site last November 8 at Zone 1C, Quinasanghan, Iponan, Cagayan de Oro City.
A driver’s maneuvering site is an off-highway area required for driving schools to teach and practice vehicle handling and maneuvers before students drive on public roads. These sites are used for skills like parallel parking, turning, and straight driving in a controlled environment, allowing students to build dexterity and confidence. LTO regulations often specify a minimum size, such as (6m\times 6m) or larger depending on the regulation.
Safety Technical Institute & Driving Academy president Andrew Tupag Jr. proudly said that theirs is the first driver’s maneuvering site in Cagayan de Oro City.
“We take all our lessons seriously and not taking shortcuts. That is why many patrons have trusted us,” Tupag said.
The 800 square-meter driver’s maneuvering site is used for practical driving course for four-wheeled vehicles and motorcycles.
The occasion also marked the memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing between the Safety Technical Institute & Driving Academy and the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), authorizing the driving school as exclusive to issue an international driver’s permit here in Region 10.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the number of foreign citizens residing in Northern Mindanao (Region X) is 1,343 persons.
Witnessing the remarkable activity were LTO 10 lawyer Bokhaimen Mala and Melcharlyn Alob of the Automobile Association of the Philippines, among others.
The Safety Technical Institute & Driving Academy is banked on its reputation of being the number one driving school in Cagayan de Oro City since its founding in 2013.
Tupag himself is a former LTO official and a former traffic consultant in the city.
