THE Northeastern Misamis General Hospital, in partnership with the Northern Mindanao Medical Center, staged an awareness seminar and training on the proper handling of hazardous materials and biological, radiological and nuclear incidents for frontline responders beginning today, October 20 until October 24, in this city.
The activity aims to promote preparedness and coordination action among local frontline responders through lectures, simulations on mass casualty decontamination, responder safety and interagency response operations.
According to Dr. Rutchell Simene, head of the NMMC Toxicology Center, the training aims to give awareness and train frontline responders on how to handle hazardous materials and CBRN incidents, especially for personnel and staff assigned at local DRRMOs with limited medical background.
The weeklong training also aims to present a proposed collaborative framework for an integrated response to incidents involving hazardous materials and CBRN in the region as well as to share updates on the preparedness efforts of concerned offices at the regional and local levels. PIA
