Bangko Sentral holds CDO leg of the Philippine Economic Briefing

THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas held the Cagayan de Oro leg of the Philippine Economic Briefing yesterday, marking the culmination of this year’s roadshow.
The event highlights the latest developments shaping the economy and outlines the country’s growth prospects.
The  serves as a flagship initiative of the Philippine government, aimed at promoting transparency, strengthening investor confidence, and advancing inclusive growth by providing timely updates on economic performance and policy direction.
Budget Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman described the Economic Briefing as more than just an economic presentation—it is a meaningful exchange focused on unlocking opportunities and working together toward building a stronger Bagong Pilipinas.
She pointed out that Cagayan de Oro plays a key role in connecting regions, thanks to its well-developed transport system.
This includes Mindanao’s longest stretch of national roads, several major seaports, and access to three commercial airports in Misamis Oriental, Ozamiz City, and Camiguin.
These connections link local producers to broader markets across the Visayas, Luzon, and even internationally.
She also recognized the region as a major food producer—especially of corn, coconuts, and bananas—and a growing hub for agri-industrial development, where farmers, fisherfolk, and business owners progress together.
Monetary Board Member Rosalia V. de Leon described the public economic briefing as energizing and marked by productive discussions.
She emphasized that what resonated most were the voices of stakeholders from Cagayan de Oro and across Mindanao.
She assured participants that their hopes, concerns, and ideas will guide the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in anchoring its efforts on inclusion and good governance to remain responsive and impactful.
Undersecretary Carlos Bernardo O. Abad Santos of the Department of Economy, Planning and Development recognized Northern Mindanao as a long-standing driver of national development—vibrant, diverse and future-oriented.
He emphasized that with its strategic location, robust economy, and abundant natural resources, the region remains a crucial growth center and a gateway of opportunity not only for Mindanao but for the entire country.
Governor Juliette T. Uy of Misamis Oriental expressed her great joy and pride in the holding of one of this year’s Domestic Philippine Economic Briefings in the City of Cagayan de Oro and the Province of Misamis Oriental.
She conveyed her optimism that the Philippine Economic Briefing would bring everyone together under a larger national narrative—one that aims to sustain the country’s growth momentum and ensure resilient and inclusive progress for every Filipino.
Engr. Elpidio M. Paras, president and CEO of Parasat Cable TV Inc., urges both national and local governments to continue simplifying processes.
He emphasized that predictability in policy is crucial, as investors are willing to take risks only when they can trust that the rules will not change midway.
He acknowledged the Regional Development Council of Northern Mindanao, in partnership with business chambers, as a strong ally in ensuring that reforms reach the grassroots.
He expressed hope that this partnership will continue, relying on shared monitoring and evaluation of government programs and projects. PIA
