THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 10 under regional director Benjamin Gaspi handed out school supplies August 1 to 450 students enrolled in three s in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental.
The beneficiaries – 150 in each school – are enrolled in City Central School, Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School and Opol Central School.
The outreach was an offshoot of the PDEA-10 Dagan Kontra Iligal na Droga held a week earlier which netted enough proceeds to purchase the school supplies.
Each kit consists of notebooks, pens and crayons – key things that an elementary and secondary student needs.
Gaspi said this is part of PDEA’s educational thrust to curb illegal substances on the demand side.
“Continue excelling in school so you will become successful professionals like us,” Gaspi told the students, adjusting to age-appropriate language depending on his audience in the three schools. “Never even at a moment think of trying illegal drugs. They will just ruin your future.”
The fun run was organized by PDEA Misamis Oriental provincial officer Expedito Cardona with the students outreach exactly in mind.
The handing of the school kits is timed with Brigada Eskwela 2024.
