Panguil Bay Bridge Set to Open on September 27

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Tourism in Northern Mindanao (DOT-10) is optimistic about a surge in tourism activities once the Panguil Bay Bridge, Mindanao’s longest, opens on Sept. 27.

Spanning 3.169 kilometers and costing approximately PHP7.8 billion to erect, Panguil Bay Bridge connects Tangub City in Misamis Occidental to Tubod town, Lanao del Norte.

Construction of the bridge began in 2016.

In an interview on Tuesday, DOT-10 Assistant Director Decius Esmedalla said the bridge will benefit not only the provinces of Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte but the entire region as well.

“The bridge will significantly enhance travel efficiency, reducing travel time and creating more opportunities for tourism activities,” he stated.

The bridge opening fulfills the “long-held dream” of the people of both Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental provinces, the Lanao del Norte provincial government said in a statement.

The bridge will provide “a permanent solution to connectivity challenges and stimulating economic activities, particularly by enhancing access to markets, trade, and tourism,” it said. (PNA)
