The Department of Trade and Industry-Consumer Protection Group (DTI-CPG) Undersecretary Atty. Ruth B. Castelo, along with DTI-Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) Assistant Secretary and FTEB Concurrent Director Ronnel O. Abrenica, led the price and supply monitoring of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) in three (3) supermarkets in Makati City on Thursday, 21 April 2022.
According to DTI-FTEB surveillance and monitoring team, prices of all monitored goods are well within the DTI Suggested Retail Price (SRP) Bulletin. However, one (1) out of the three (3) inspected supermarkets received a Show Cause Order as some products sold did not bear any price tag mandated under the Republic Act 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines. Offering any consumer product in the marketplace without an appropriate price tag, label, or marking is prohibited by the law.
