IN the Kapihan sa PIA held today, July 8, Office of Civil Defense (OCD)- 10 Assistant Regional Director and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Chief Gilbert H. Conde shared that it is important to be prepared in the face of disaster.
“No one can predict the outputs of the disaster, but people can mitigate it. If the family is ready, if the LGU (local government unit) is ready, if the city is ready, and if the region is ready, we can mitigate any disaster,” he said.
The event featured key speakers including OCD X Director Antonio B. Sugarol, Conde, DILG X’s Hazel Occeña, and Engr. Leowald Pecore of DPWH X.
Together, they addressed a range of topics vital to enhancing disaster resilience, focusing on the activation of key disaster response programs and engineering solutions aimed at strengthening infrastructure and reducing vulnerabilities.
The event provided an opportunity to discuss the initiatives and programs implemented by the respective agencies to enhance disaster resilience in the region.
The Kapihan sa PIA also served as a platform for an open dialogue between the government officials and the media, allowing the media to ask questions and seek clarification on various issues related to disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).
