THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported a significant drop in Northern Mindanao’s inflation rate, which eased to 1.8 percent in February 2025, down from 2.9 percent in January and from 3.4 percent in February 2024.
PSA-10 Director Janith Aves, in a report Friday, attributed the deceleration primarily to lower prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which recorded an inflation rate of 0.6 percent.
“Food and non-alcoholic beverages contributed 68.8 percent to the downtrend in inflation,” Aves said.
Other key contributors included transport and furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance.
Meanwhile, PSA-10 deployed 109 trained field personnel across the region’s five provinces to conduct the Listing of Building Constructions until April 12.
The LoBC aims to compile construction statistics from approved building permits and coincides with the 2024 Population Census-Community-Based Monitoring System, which includes geotagging of service facilities and government projects. (PNA)
