Normin PESOMAP, DOLE roll out 22nd national PESO congress plan

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)–The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 along with the Public Employment Service Office Managers Association of the Philippines (PESOMAP)-10 conducted the 2nd quarter joint meeting, July 3-4, at the Mindanao Civic Center Hotel, here where they discussed plans, activities and initiatives for the remaining semester including the 22nd national PESO congress (NPC) in September.

Serving as host to this gathering was Lanao del Norte Provincial Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo who expressed support and commitment to DOLE programs and deliverables ensuring that the informal sector workers are given the necessary assistance to address the effect of the pandemic especially to their livelihood.

“Your (DOLE) efforts to help the provincial economy sustain growth play an important role in achieving it despite the global crisis. Our role as front liners to your programs helped cushion the impact of our informal sector in addressing employment concerns as we continue to forge productive partnerships,” Dimaporo said.

DOLE-10 Regional Director Albert Gutib thanked Dimaporo for immensely contributing to the successes of the Department particularly on the 2022 national Kabuhayan Awards where Paglingkawas Women Federation (PAWFED) placed third and Neneng’s Buko Pie in the top five. Both entries snatched first places for video documentation in the said competition.

“The Province of Lanao del Norte is the land of beauty and bounty. You have proved to pull through in maintaining an even excellent services to the public”. Gutib said.

The honor that PAWFED and Neneng achieved speaks not only of the victory of their organizations but the victory of Lanao del Norte,” Gutib said.

Moreover, eight DOLE Secretary’s Bayanihan Service Award II regional winners were recognized during the awarding ceremony and received certificates, plaques of recognition, cash incentives as the ticket to officially represent the region in the national search. 

Three-minute video presentations were shown that narrated PESOs’ initiatives under innovation, resilience and humanitarian services.

The winners were Misamis Oriental (1st class province); Lanao del Norte (2nd class province); Cagayan de Oro (highly urbanized cities); Oroquieta (component cities); Tubod, Lanao del Norte (1st-2nd class municipalities); Jimenez, Misamis Occidental (3rd-4th class municipalities); Catarman, Camiguin (5th-6th class municipalities); and Camiguin Polytechnic State College for JPO.

Meanwhile, PESOMAP-10 President Kathleen Kate Sorilla rolled out plans in the conduct of NPC in September as a mechanism of recognizing the contribution of PESO Managers and Job Placement Offices in the attainment of national development with particular efforts to the national/regional economic and employment recovery efforts inclusive amidst the pandemic.
