Cagayan de Oro – The newly-installed regional head of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Northern Mindanao is committed to undergo thorough investigation on colorum vehicles.
LTFRB-10 Regional Director Abo Samen H. Matuan in a Press Conference organized by the Cagayan de Oro Press Club (COPC) Wednesday said that his administration will put up field men to implement checking of motorists without proper registration papers, or what is known as colorum vehicles plying in the streets.
But RD Matuan said this will not happen immediately but gradually since he just assumed office as the newly installed regional director of LTFRB-10. His first action would be to increase the number of enforcers in the field. Currently, the regional office has only seven field men.
“I need to duplicate the numbers of present enforcers that will operate in the field throughout the region. I need to determine yet the budget proposal which was already submitted by the previous administration at the central office early October”, Matuan said.
This year,the central office appropriated Php14.6 Million for the region and Php4 Million of it is allocated for personal services.
In the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization program, Northern Mindanao identified 31 developmental routes but only 13 routes were approved for operations.
The Regional Director announced that they ceased “Libreng Sakay” (Free rides) until December and it will continue if the 2024 appropriation was allotted again to the regional office.
