ADDITIONAL traffic lights in the city have begun to be restored and made operational through the intensified efforts of the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA), which has been strengthened under the administration of Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy.
RTA Department Manager Nonito A. Oclarit explained that they are coordinating with the Traffic Engineering Education and Enforcement Division, particularly regarding possible disruptions to traffic flow during the repair works.
He stated that the repair of traffic lights will continue despite various challenges and problems, but their office remains committed to improving traffic management and public safety in the city.
Restoring the traffic lights is important to prevent accidents and to ensure a safe and efficient flow of vehicles and pedestrians, especially at intersections.
The areas (traffic lights) included in the repair and restoration are:
- CM Recto Avenue
J.R. Borja Extension / Coastal Road
San Pedro Street
Limketkai Avenue
Osmeña Street
Don A. Velez Street
Julio Pacana Street
- Osmeña Street
Ramonal Street
Osmeña – Hayes Street
J. Ramonal Street – Pres. Quirino Street
3.
Capt. Vicente Roa Street – Hayes Street
Corrales Avenue – Gen. A. Luna Street
Corrales Avenue – J.R. Borja Street
Don A. Velez Street – Gen. A. Luna Street
4.

Because of this, several problems may be encountered, including traffic congestion, safety risks to workers and drivers, and electrical or technical difficulties such as faulty wiring or outdated components.
In this regard, RTA officials are asking for the public’s understanding and patience, especially from drivers, motorists, and pedestrians.
This, as the City Council approved an ordinance authorizing Mayor Rolando Uy to enter into an agreement with a Singaporean company to implement an AI (artificial intelligence) assisted traffic management system in select areas of Cagayan de Oro City at no cost to the city. CIO
