Misor tourists reach 5.7 million in 2025, up almost ten percent

FROM bustling day trips to longer, more immersive stays, the numbers tell a powerful story.

The 2025 tourism data highlights a year of strong domestic travel, growing visitor confidence and emerging opportunities for international tourism—all pointing to a vibrant and resilient tourism sector.

This report captures key trends, visitor movements and patterns that shape the province’s tourism landscape, serving as a vital reference for planners, stakeholders and tourism partners.

This year represents a pivotal shift from recovery to growth.

From only 5,207,140 persons in 2024, the number of tourists that visited Misamis Oriental last year has reached 5,710,345 or an increase of 9.6 percent.

Of the figure, a total of 5,698,093 are domestic tourists while only 12,252 are foreigners.

Across all four quarters, domestic same-day visitors overwhelmingly dominated the total visitor volume, accounting for more than one million arrivals per quarter.

In contrast, foreign same-day visitors remained numerically modest but exhibited notable growth toward the latter part of the year.

“This disparity underscores the domestic market as the primary driver of tourism activity while also indicating emerging opportunities for increased international engagement,” provincial tourism officer Cinderella Faye Obeñita said.

The top tourist rites are Divine Mercy Shrine, Claveria View Deck, Mantangale Alibuag Dive Resort, Don Arc Beach Resort, Isidro’s Beach Resort, Our Lady of Lourdes Resort, Illuminada Garden Resort and Salay Amusement Park.

The continued rise in 2025, reaching its highest recorded level, demonstrates sustained tourism expansion rather than a short-term rebound.

“The consistent growth pattern implies structural strengthening of the tourism sector, supported by
accessibility, diversified attractions and effective governance interventions,” Obeñita added. “More than just data, these figures reflect the collective efforts of communities, local governments and tourism frontliners in positioning Misamis Oriental as a dynamic and welcoming destination.”
