PROVINCIAL tourism officer Cinderella Faye E. Obeñita opens the province’s celebration of the National Tourism Week 2025, Sept. 13, at the Capitol Grounds.
Obeñita expressed gratitude for the warm support and participation of the mayors from every town in Misamis Oriental, especially Governor Juliette Uy, who continues to prioritize tourism as a key to development.
During the occasion, Misamis Oriental also officially unveiled its new tourism logo Monday morning at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, with Uy leading the launch.
The new emblem aims to represent the province’s unique destinations, rich cultural heritage and growing economic opportunities.
In her remarks, Uy emphasized that the logo serves as a symbol of pride and a renewed commitment to promoting sustainable tourism in the region.
Uy also called on the people of Misamis Oriental to come together in celebrating tourism—not just as an industry, but also as a pathway to development through unity.
Tourism Week features a variety of activities, including: Kinaham: A Food Expo on Monday; Pasundayag: Cultural Dance Contest on Tuesday
and other engaging activities showcasing the progress and cultural wealth of Misamis Oriental.
The event gathered local officials, tourism stakeholders and residents in a celebration of Misamis Oriental’s identity and its vibrant future in the tourism sector.
Among them were the Misamis Oriental Hotels and Restaurant Association (MOHARA) led by Bjanesha Emphasis, the Association of Tourism Officers of Misamis Oriental under the leadership of Geronimo Lagbas and Region 10 Tourism director Marie Elaine Unchuan, all showing full support for the province.
As Misamis Oriental embarks on a new chapter in tourism, the province looks forward to this serving as a gateway to more opportunities, a stronger economy, and greater solidarity. PIA/PIO/MDN
