MisOr PHO’s war vs COVID-19 continues

MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)—The Misamis Oriental Provincial Health Office (PHO) continues its fight against COVID-19 by distributing personal protective equipment and other supplies needed to combat the virus.

“We distributed 1,000 cover-all, 300 N95, and 180 test kits. These were spread across our hospitals and city health centers,” says Provincial Health Officer Dr. Israel L. Peralta, Jr.

Peralta said Gingoog City was the first to receive the specified allocations since the PHO is now monitoring it due to its largest number of cases registered in the province, with a total of 13 out of the 63 confirmed active cases as of August 15.

Aside from that, the PHO reported that only 16 patients are now admitted to the hospital, and the province’s COVID-19 bed ratio is at 23 percent.

Despite the number of active cases in Misamis Oriental, Peralta assures Misamisnons that their office is doing its best to increase immunization among Misamisnons by offering accessible vaccination sites in the province’s municipalities and cities.

Thus, he urged those who have not yet completed their primary doses and received booster doses to take advantage of the government’s vaccination program to protect themselves from severe COVID-19 infection.

As of 15 August, 77 percent of Misamisnons have completed the primary immunization and 44 percent have received their booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine, based on PHO data. (JAKA/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
