MARAWI CITY – Marawi City Treasurer Abdulrahman A Lomondot reported Monday that the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) has increased its collections of business tax, and other tax collectibles from the businessmen operating their businesses in the city.
Treasurer Lomondot said the collections in business taxes, real property taxes have increased to 200 percent, which is a sign that businessmen and professionals are paying their taxes as required by the government
“Right now we have a 200 percent increase in the collection of business taxes, real property taxes and all other taxable properties of business establishments operating their businesses in Marawi,” he said.
Lomondot also urged other business owners who have not paid to settle their accounts so that they will not be penalized and imposed with fines.
MONITORING
The City Treasurer claimed the office has a monitoring team that takes care of identifying who among the business owners have not settled their obligations.
“We’ve been closely monitoring them. In fact, those who have not paid and has been violating are candidates for closure of their business establishments,” he warned.
Lomondot said since they started stricter implementation of paying taxes, a lot of business owners have complied and settle their obligations.
