MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–The city government here through its City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) with funds from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) distributed financial assistance to persons with disabilities (PWDs) under its program ‘Kalinga Para Sa May Mga Kapansansan’ [Care for those with disabilities].
CSWD Officer Rismirah Adap said more than 1,300 beneficiaries received P3,000 each allocated for the semester, July to December 2021.
She said such recipients have already claimed their share for the semester, January to June 2021.
Adap stated that as one of the primary concerns of the local government of the city, the cash assistance was intended for the basic necessities of the PWDs.
“Ito ay para pambili nila ng gamot at pagkain, same with the senior citizens na P500 monthly. Nagpapasalamat kami sa MSSD-BARMM sa lahat ng tulong na binibigay nila sa Marawi. Ito ay isa sa mga pinapapatutukan ni Mayor [Majul Gandamra] na maibigay talaga ang ayuda para sa ating mga kababayan sa Marawi City,” she said.
[This is for them to buy medicines and food, same with the senior citizens who receive P500 monthly. We are thankful to the MSSD-BARMM for all the help they have given us here in Marawi. This is one of those that is prioritized by Mayor [Majul Gandamra] which is to really give aid to our fellowmen in Marawi City.]
Adap conveyed that they are hopeful to spearhead another payout for the 2022 allocation within this year considering the other areas of coverage of the MSSD-BARMM.
“Hindi lang naman Marawi City ang covered ng MSSD. We have other provinces. In fact, sa Lanao del Sur, we have 39 municipalities and one city so nagkakaroon ng calendar of activities, proseso at pamamaraan kung paano mas maipamamahagi nang maayos ang ating ayuda para sa ating mga kababayan na may kapansanan,” she said.
