Lantapan receives ceramic water filters from DOST-10

LANTAPAN, Bukidnon (PIA)—Thirty-six households in Kibuda and Maliwanag subvillages in Kibangay, Lantapan, Bukidnon will now have access to potable water with the help of the Ceramic Water Filter technology.

This has been foreseen to reduce 50 percent of water-borne diseases caused by contaminated drinking water sources in the area.

The Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology designed and manufactured the Hydria Ceramic Water Filter technology to decrease water-related illnesses as it filters the bacteria and sediments in the water.

Each household received a six-liter Ceramic Water Filter during the culmination of Nutrition Month last July 29 at Balila National High School in Lantapan municipality.

Recipients were also briefed and trained on the proper use and maintenance of the Ceramic Water Filters which were distributed under the DOST’s Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) Program.

Interested communities may email or hand in their letter of intent to the DOST provincial offices in Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental. (DOST-10/PIA-10/Bukidnon)
