LAGUINDINGAN Airport is iocated in Northern Mindanao and serves the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Marawi as well as the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur and Bukidnon.
It is the third busiest airport operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) in terms of passernger volume for 2023 and the sixth busiest in the country in 2019 with an estimated two million passengers passing throughout.
The current pre-departure area of the airport can accornmodate 500 passengers.
The apron can accommodate up to four jet aircraft and one propeller aircraft, allowing for a total of 790 passengers to be present simultaneously, which leads to decongestion within the airport.
In recognition of Laguindingan Airport’s inportant role as the primary gateway to Northern Mindanao, the pre-departure area of the airport’s terminal building underwent expansion, increasing its capacity by an additional 360 passengers, totaling 860 passengers at any given time.
The said expansion project utilized an innovative mnodular construction systern that combines sustainability and cost effectiveness.
It provides flexibility in design, swift construction, cost efficiency and environnentally conscious choices.
Modular construction offers a high degree of flexibility, allowing for adaptation to the specificneeds of the airport expansion.
With the completion of the project, the pre-departure area is now developed withan additional 720 square meters, further enriching the overall travel experience of the flying public.
This increased space for travelers wili not only ease congestion and alleviate stress but also significantly irnprove the overall atmosphere of Laguindingan Airport, leading to a more enjoyable experience before boarding.
