DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon inspected the collapsed portion of the Bukidnon-Davao City Road (Overview area) located in Sitio Kipolot, Barangay Palacapao, Quezon, Bukidnon.
He was accompanied by OIC-Undersecretary for Convergence and Technical Services Lara Marisse Esquibil to personally assess the extent of the damage and determine how to expedite the road repair so it can be immediately used by motorists, following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
According to Secretary Dizon, the priority is to ensure a swift yet high-quality repair of the said road, which serves as an important link between Northern Mindanao and the Davao Region.
Among the immediate measures to be undertaken by the agency is a full geotechnical investigation to start the construction of a detour road.
The DPWH will continue to coordinate with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) under the DENR to address the road failure not only in the landslide area but also in other sections affected by the unstable soil condition in the area.
Also joining the Secretary in the inspection were Bukidnon Governor Rogelio Neil P. Roque, Quezon, Bukidnon Mayor Pablo “Poling” M. Lorenzo III, and DPWH Region X Regional Director Lilibeth Aparecio. DPWH 10 RELEASE
