MGen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, commander of 4th Infantry Division, said in the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, August 13, that the 4ID has made significant progress in its campaign against the communist terrorist group, the CTG, in northern Mindanao.
Since January 2024, the division has initiated nine encounters, neutralizing eight CNTs and losing 52 firearms.
The dismantling of CTG units in Region 10 has been a significant milestone for peace and development.
The government’s approach to addressing insurgencies has led to a steady increase in CTG members returning to peace.
The “Balik-Loob” Program has allowed 49 CNTs to surrender to 4ID units, while the ECLIP has provided better opportunities for former rebels to return to the law and live normal lives.
4ID, together with the LGUs and its partner stakeholders, has been actively implementing and monitoring projects under the SBDP or the NTF ELCAC’s Support to Barangay Development Program.
In 2022 and 2023, there were 51 completed projects and 12 ongoing implementations in Region 10, with a total funding of P202 million.
“As the 4ID continues to champion peace, security, and development in northern Mindanao and Caraga region, it will not rest its laurels to sustain hard-earned peace in its AOR as it slowly shifts to territorial defense to safeguard the country s sovereignty,” the 4ID reported during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on August 13.
